It's time for silent majority to speak against godlessness

It's time for silent majorityto speak against godlessness
EDITOR:
The Pilgrims came to this country in search of religious freedom. Our forefathers, in drafting our Constitution, wanted to be sure that religious freedom would be for everyone in our country.
Thousands of men and women have given up their lives to protect our country and its religious freedom, not to protect us from religion.
There are organized groups in our country that wish to make us a godless society. The few are behind taking prayers out of the schools, eliminating the reference to the Ten Commandments in any form. Think about it, what a wonderful world it would be if we all would live by those Ten Commandments.
No need for armies and wars. No need for police to take care of the killers and thieves in our society. The practice of love and truth would prevail if we would only follow those commandments, "not suggestions."
There are countries that call us the infidels and try to find ways to annihilate the "God believers." Remember 9/11. If you wish to preserve your religious freedom and protect your way of life, speak up, America.
When will the silent majority speak up and take a stand for good in our society and confront the evildoers?
Are we going to be doomed to a godless America, a society where even the preachers are not speaking out against the decadence in our country?
How misled can we be when our religious leaders appoint an open, active homosexual to be a bishop? What signals are we giving our children? How misled can we be when states are legislating the acceptance of same-sex marriages? Where would life be if it wasn't for the procreation by the married male and female?
Let's not put our heads in the sand and say that it's OK for same-sex marriages. Laws made by man do not make it right in the eyes of God. Rape and incest cannot be legislated as being normal and approved by law; neither should homosexual acts be approved as normal.
Speak up, America. Support the politicians who support the life that we should be following as given to us in the Ten Commandments.

McDonald citizens still haverights to exercise free speech
EDITOR:
I am responding to Mayor Border's comments that appeared in the newspaper. He took umbrage at the fact that so many people affiliated with the schools signed the flier. "I always thought the school system was supposed to be nonpartisan," he said during his interview with reporter Sherri Shaulis.
I note that he, as mayor for the village of McDonald, endorsed two candidates for council by having two signs placed in his yard. Was his endorsement an official act as mayor, or was he expressing his opinion as a private citizen? He enjoys the right of free political speech. Do the voters who supported Jack Dugan in the election enjoy the same right to free political speech?
Board of education petitions are nonpartisan, but this does not take our constitutional right away. We have the right to support who we want.
We are taxpayers, therefore, if Mayor Border would think first, four years ago when he ran for mayor he asked for my support and put a sign in my yard. If he thinks we should be nonpartisan, then we should have been nonpartisan four years ago.
How did I go from being a respectable board of education member four years ago when he wanted my support to being called "trash" now, just because I gave my support to another candidate?
I encourage him to think before he speaks, especially when his remarks will be published. I encourage him to learn about the Constitution and the wonderful freedoms afforded to each of us as citizens of this great nation.
Finally, I encourage him to value the dedicated members of the school board, many of whom have served for decades. McDonald Local's cohesive, progressive administration, our hard-working teachers and our loyal staff are the reasons our children enjoy the best educational experience in Trumbull County.
