NEW YORK (AP) -- Many women choose a new hairstyle based on a celebrity photo in a magazine or a glimpse of a well-tressed person they see on the street, but compatibility with their own look is left undecided until the scissors and bleach have begun their work.
Clairol's Color Source newsletter consulted the stars -- as in the ones in the sky -- to guide people toward the most appropriate style based on astrological signs.
Here's what it came up with:
UAquarius. Keep it "au naturel" with earthy tones and loose locks.
UPisces. You crave a little risk, like long blond waves when everyone else sticks to straight.
UAries. Keep boredom at bay with a bold new look.
UTaurus. Think natural -- with tweaks. An angled cut adds edge to a light brunette.
UGemini. A short cut in auburn or hazelnut lets you go from sleek and chic to airy and unstructured.
UCancer. Straight and dark? Very smart.
ULeo. Never understated, you thrive on untamed styles, such as wild, sun-kissed curls.
UVirgo. You can handle a disciplined, sharp-edged bob in a rich chocolate brown.
ULibra. With a Botticelli idea of beauty, indulge your inner goddess with romantic gilded waves.
UScorpio. Let loose some of that dramatic energy in a billowy shake of noir.
USagittarius. You like freedom -- and low-maintenance beauty. A darker shade of blond means less touchups.
UCapricorn. Keep it simple, mixing a classic style with bold color.
