DIVISION I HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL Elder repeats as state champion

Bradley Glatthaar set a record as the Cincinnati team routed St. Edward.
CANTON (AP) -- Bradley Glatthaar rushed for 252 yards and three touchdowns to lead Cincinnati Elder to its second straight Division I state championship, beating Lakewood St. Edward 31-7 Saturday night.
Glatthaar's rushing total was a record for the big-school state title game, surpassing the 196 yards Mike Nicholson of Toledo St. Francis picked up against North Canton Hoover in 1984.
Glatthaar's scoring runs covered 14, 47 and 41 yards on 35 carries. The touchdowns and 191 of his yards came in the second half, when the sixth-ranked Panthers (14-1) outscored the Eagles (11-4) 24-0.
Glatthaar ran 14 yards for the go-ahead score on the opening drive of a third quarter in which the Panthers controlled the ball for all but two minutes and 12 seconds of the 12-minute period.
While St. Edward's first two possessions of the second half featured three plays and a punt, Elder moved the ball at will behind Glatthaar and the quarterback-receiver combination Rob Florian and Kurt Gindling.
Two scoring drives
Florian completed 8 of 13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Gindling had 70 yards receiving on four catches -- all for first downs on Elder's first two second-half scoring drives.
The Panthers used an 8-play, 67-yard drive to take a 14-7 lead on Glatthaar's first TD run. D.J. Heuneman kicked a 28-yard field goal to make it 17-7, capping a 14-play, 70-yard march that took 6:41 off the clock.
The Eagles (11-4) got another chance when Glatthaar, a first-team All-Ohio selection, fumbled with 8:56 to play. After one first down, Anthony Gardener was intercepted by Elder linebacker Seth Priestle and Glatthaar ran for two more TDs.
Elder took advantage of a fumble to take a 7-0 lead with 10:16 remaining in the second quarter on Florian's 7-yard touchdown pass to Craig Carey.
Running up the middle on third-and-2, Gardener lost the ball in a pile of players and Panthers defensive lineman Alex Harbin came away with it.
St. Edward tied the score on Gardener's 6-yard sneak with 2:48 left in the opening half. Haruki Nakamura helped set up the touchdown with a 22-yard catch and run and a 12-yard reception on the 8-play, 62-yard drive.
One possession earlier, the Eagles had excellent field position but couldn't do anything with it.
St. Edward ran three plays and punted after Tony Arcangelini recovered Billy O'Conner's muffed punt at the Elder 34. Gardener overthrew a wide open Scott Madden in the end zone on first down.
