EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) -- Mohamed Hachad scored 14 points Saturday and T.J. Parker added 13 as Northwestern defeated Northwestern State 69-61.
Northwestern trailed 19-10 midway through the first half, but responded with a 16-5 run, taking a 25-24 lead on a Parker 3 with 1:44 left in the first half.
Northwestern hit three consecutive 3s to break open the game late in the second half. Hachad had two of them and Vince Scott hit a three-pointer to give Northwestern a 65-50 lead with 4:36 left in the game.
Vedran Vukusic finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals for Northwestern.
Northwestern (2-2) was 12-of-19 from the free throw line in the first half and Northwestern State was 1-of-2. Northwestern led 29-26 at half, but made 14 turnovers. Northwestern State committed 16 turnovers in the first half and scored just seven points in the last 10 minutes of the half.
Jermaine Wallace led Northwestern State (1-3) with 15 points and Jermaine Spencer added 13.
