PHILADELPHIA -- Kim Johnsson assisted on three goals and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Carolina Hurricanes to extend their unbeaten streak to 11 games. Jeremy Roenick and Joni Pitkanen scored on power plays for the Flyers and Robert Esche made 29 saves to increase his personal unbeaten streak to eight games. Carolina goaltender Kevin Weekes made 25 saves after posting back-to-back shutouts his previous two starts.
Mighty Ducks 4, Blackhawks 3
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Sergei Fedorov scored the go-ahead goal with just under nine minutes remaining, leading the Anaheim Mighty Ducks to victory over Chicago and extending the Blackhawks' winless streak to 10 games. Petr Sykora, Joffrey Lupul and Jason Krog also scored to help the Ducks snap a four-game winless streak. Anaheim picked up points in its last 10 games, including four overtime losses. Chicago lost its fifth straight overall and sixth in a row on the road.
Sharks 2, Wild 1
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A pair of power play goals lifted the San Jose Sharks to their fourth consecutive win, a victory over the Minnesota Wild. The Sharks are now unbeaten in their last six (4-0-2) while the Wild have lost four in a row. The Sharks dominated both ends of the rink in the opening period, out-shooting Minnesota 10-2 and taking a 1-0 lead on a power play goal. Brad Stuart's shot from the blue line glanced off Mike Ricci's skate and past Minnesota goaltender Dwayne Roloson.
Predators 2, Bruins 1
BOSTON -- Greg Johnson scored on a power play midway through the first period to lead the Nashville Predators past the Boston Bruins for their third straight victory. The Predators have won seven of their last nine games. With 24 points in 22 games, they are off to the best start in the team's six-year history. The Bruins, who have lost three straight, were beaten for the first time by a Western Conference opponent after starting 8-0-1-1.
Canadiens 5, Capitals 3
WASHINGTON -- Sheldon Souray had his second two-game game of the season, and Pierre Dagenais and Michael Ryder scored 61 seconds apart in the first period to lead the Montreal Canadiens past the Washington Capitals. Backup goaltender Mathieu Garon had 31 saves for the Canadiens, who took command by connecting on three of their first nine shots against Olaf Kolzig. Montreal matched its season high in goals. Its other five-goal game was a 5-1 win over the Capitals on Oct. 14.
Lightning 2, Blues 2
TAMPA, Fla. -- Eric Nickulas and Keith Tkachuk scored third-period goals helping the St. Louis Blues tie the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Blues nearly won it in overtime, but Nikolai Khabibulin made a point-blank save on Petr Cajanek. The Lightning goalie also stopped a high slot shot by Chris Pronger during a St. Louis power play. Fredrik Modin and Dan Boyle scored for Tampa Bay in the chippy contest that featured eight fighting penalties and one game misconduct.
Sabres 4, Panthers 3
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Daniel Briere scored two goals in the third period to help the Buffalo Sabres beat the Florida Panthers. Curtis Brown and Taylor Pyatt also scored for Buffalo, which won its second straight game. Stephen Weiss had two goals, and Juraj Kolnik also scored for the Panthers. Briere tied it at 3 with a power-play goal at 13:22 of the third. His hard slap shot from the top of the left circle beat Steve Shields on the stick side.
Red Wings 6, Islanders 0
DETROIT -- Manny Legace stopped 30 shots for his fourth career shutout, and Steve Thomas had two goals and an assist to lift the Detroit Red Wings to victory over the New York Islanders. Legace's biggest saves came when he stopped Jason Blake from point-blank range 19 seconds into the third period and Mariusz Czerkawski's rebound at 8:40. Brendan Shanahan, Chris Chelios, Kris Draper and Brett Hull scored the other Detroit goals. Pavel Datsyuk added three assists, and Draper had one.
Stars 2, Devils 0
DALLAS -- Bill Guerin scored a power-play goal in the second period, and Marty Turco stopped 21 shots to help the Dallas Stars snap the New Jersey Devils' club record-tying 13-game unbeaten streak. Guerin skated in hard from the left side and beat goaltender Martin Brodeur off Pierre Turgeon's goal-mouth pass at 10:16. The Devils, 10-0-3 in their previous 13 games, have had three other 13-game unbeaten streaks in franchise history.
Avalanche 4, Oilers 1
EDMONTON, Alberta -- Joe Sakic had a goal and two assists, and David Aebischer stopped 40 shots for Colorado. Teemu Selanne, Dan Hinote and Martin Skoula also scored for the Avalanche, 5-2 in their last seven games and 8-2-0-1 in 11. Marc-Andre Bergeron broke Aebischer's shutout bid in the third period for Edmonton, winless in four games (0-3-1) following a four-game winning streak. Adam Oates, signed by Edmonton on Nov. 17, made his Oilers debut.
