YOUNGSTOWN -- Traditional holiday music will be featured at "A Merry Dana Christmas" concert, featuring YSU students, at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Columba Cathedral, Wood and Elm streets. Performing will be YSU's Trombone Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, Freshman Brass Quintet, Horn Quintet and various vocalists. Relay for Life at show
WARREN -- The Relay for Life Team at Kent State University Trumbull Campus will raise funds by hosting receptions before performances of Kent Trumbull Theatre's production of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing." The receptions will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for the reception and show are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens and students. Sigma Alpha Iota benefit
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Roses in December," a recital to benefit Sigma Alpha Iota women's academic music fraternity, will be at 2:30 p.m. next Sunday in YSU's Bliss Recital Hall. Nationally, Sigma Alpha Iota is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Locally, there are two chapters -- Alpha Nu at YSU and Youngstown-Warren SAI Alumni. Performing will be sopranos Jennifer Davis Jones and April Antell Tarantine; baritone Allan Mosher; pianist Nancy Zipay DeSalvo; oboe Tedrow Perkins; trumpeter Susan Sexton; and flutist Kathryn Umble. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for the local alumni chapter's scholarship fund.
Nutcracker Luncheon
ASHTABULA -- Sit down to lunch with Clara and her Prince at the Nutcracker Luncheon at noon Dec. 13 at Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St. Cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children. Celebration scheduledat Conneaut Lake Park
CONNEAUT LAKE, Pa. -- One hundred evergreen trees have been decorated for "Holiday in the Park," a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Hotel Conneaut at Conneaut Lake Park. Peanuts Christmas show
PITTSBURGH -- Singers Al Jarreau and Melissa Manchester and composer-pianist David Benoit will perform their own songs as well as music from "A Charlie Brown Christmas" in "A Concert for Christmas" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Benedum Center, 719 Liberty Ave. Charlie Brown and his friends will be featured in new animation on three projection screens as the performers retell the story of the little bald-headed boy's disappointment in the materialistic aspect of the holidays. New Year's Eve events
Some New Year's Eve plans need to be made now. Take, for example, the New Year's Eve Gala Celebration at Carousel Dinner Theatre in Akron. It begins with a champagne reception from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner from 5:30 to 8 p.m., a performance of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at 8:30, then dancing with live music, a champagne toast and midnight buffet. Irish dance performance
CLEVELAND -- The return of Michael Flatley's "Lord of the Dance" to North America will include performances in January at Palace Theatre, 1615 Euclid Ave. The show features Irish dance champions from across the globe in a folklore-based story that Flatley choreographed.
