Former Youngstowner and renowned artist Bill Rakocy recently published "Taos Artists Founders," which details how the great painters of Taos, N.M., lived. It includes chapters on artists such as Albert Bierstadt, E. Martin Hennings, Henriette Wyeth Hurd, Michael Angelo Buonarotti and Ross Braught.
Rakocy was born in Youngstown in 1924. He attended advanced art classes at the Butler art institute at a young age, and he received a B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Kansas City Art Institute in the 1950s. Previous books by Rakocy include "For Art Anything" and "Mogollan Diary No. 1."
