The Slavics mark golden event at family dinner

XSTRUTHERS -- Mr. and Mrs. James Slavic of Struthers observed the 50th anniversary of their wedding Aug. 22.
The former Velma Shushok and Mr. Slavic exchanged marriage vows on that day in 1953 at St. John Greek Catholic Church in Uniontown, Pa.
The couple celebrated their anniversary during a family dinner July 20 at their home.
Their children are Jim and Colleen Slavic of Douglassville, Ga.; Debbie Yash, Mary Jo and Ken Clark and Joe and Paula Slavic, all of Struthers; and John and Kathy Slavic of Lowellville. The family circle includes nine grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Slavic are members of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.
Mrs. Slavic is a homemaker.
Mr. Slavic, a Korean War veteran, retired from Commercial Shearing in Youngstown in 1992 after 37 years of service.
