CRESTVIEW HIGH School's stadium changes celebrated

The stadium's seating for 2,000 fans includes a 180-seat reserved section.
COLUMBIANA -- The opening of Crestview High School's 2003 varsity football season will be heralded tonight by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and sky divers dropping in with an American Flag and the game ball.
All the hoopla is in celebration of the $800,000 in improvements to the football and track complex.
The ribbon-cutting will be at 6 with the kickoff of the game set for 7:30.
Crestview will play South Range.
The stadium now boasts an all-weather track, aluminum bleacher seating for 2,000 fans and restroom facilities.
There is seating for about 1,200 fans on the home side and about 800 on the visitors' side.
That compares with 800 seats for home fans and 600 seats for visiting fans with the old wooden bleachers.
Dilling said the new seating also includes about 180 molded plastic stadium seats that will be sold as reserve seating.
The bleachers replace wooden ones that constantly needed repairs. The district sold the old bleachers to the Columbiana County Fair Board.
Improvement
The district is paying for the stadium project from the permanent improvement fund.
The field, which is adjacent to the high school, has never had permanent restroom facilities. Portable toilets were placed for use during events.
Dilling said the new all-weather track is now upen until 11 p.m. for use by the community.
The field was used by the middle school football team Thursday, and a few minor touch-ups are still needed before tonight's game.
