SHARON Cancer center will be part of radiation clinical trials



HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Sharon Regional Health System's Cancer Care Center will participate in radiation oncology national clinical trials.
The center, located at 2320 Highland Road, will be a part of the clinical trials in collaboration with the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, a Philadelphia-based multi-institutional cooperative organization funded by the National Cancer Institute and based in Philadelphia, is a multi-institutional cooperative organization.
The goal of the trials is to:
UIncrease the survival of patients with malignant diseases in which control of the local-regional tumor is a major determinant of outcome.
UDemonstrate the effectiveness of new treatments for cancer.
UImprove the quality of life of patients.
USeek greater understanding of the biology of several types of cancer.
Total care
Sharon Regional said the Cancer Care Center offers total cancer care in one modern location, including hematology and medical oncology consultation and treatment; radiation oncology consultation and treatment; certified nurses and therapists specializing in cancer treatment; and a patient/community educational resources library.
