Mercer Co. jobless rate holds steady, figures show
SHARON, Pa. -- The unemployment rate in Mercer County remained steady in July. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor said the rate remained at 5.4 percent although the number of people working actually rose. The number working in July stood at 55,900 as compared with 55,500 in June. However, the number seeking work also rose from 3,100 in June to 3,200 in July.
Lawrence County's unemployment rate inched down to 6.4 percent in July from 6.7 percent in June as more people were working.
Accident at Delphileaves 3 with injuries
HOWLAND -- Three people were injured Tuesday when a vacuum line on a molding machine ruptured at the North River Road complex of Delphi Packard Electric Systems.
An engineer testing the machine at the time hurt her ankle, the company said. Two people nearby had ringing in their ears because of a loud noise that was created. Production was not affected because the machine was down for repairs.
