Magazine's issue is like a fall catalog

NEW YORK (AP) -- If Vogue's 740-page September issue is sort of like a fall catalog for the chic woman, a list of top trends compiled by the magazine's editors could be considered a shopping list.
Here are the top 10 looks of the season, which, according to Vogue, all follow the underlying themes of pretty and polished:
UA fur stole -- real or faux -- for movie-star glamour. "Wear it over a simple dress like a sleeveless sheath instead of a pashmina," says fashion news director Sally Singer. The stole also works as a fur collar under a tweed jacket, she says.
UA sleek pencil skirt.
UA pair of fishnet panty hose, or textured or brightly colored tights.
UA narrow-waist cinched jacket like Katharine Hepburn would have worn in the 1930s.
USomething "borrowed from the boys," such as a pair of flat-front trousers or a slightly oversized sweater.
UTowering red heels, a fuchsia bag, a blue crocodile belt or some other colorful, eye-popping accessory.
ULong gloves. For evening, long gloves are both elegant and fun, says Singer. They also are a way to add color to a black dress. For day, colorful gloves can give personality to a conservative shirt, suit or coat, but the gloves should come off once you're in the office, she advises.
UA pretty cocktail dress.
UA corseted top or dress to emphasize shapely curves.
UOver-the-knee boots. "You have to be bold enough to wear a miniskirt with these," Singer says, but the boots actually provide a lot of leg coverage. "It's a modest way to do a mini."
