Mosquito spraying

Mosquito spraying
STONEBORO, Pa. -- Weather permitting, insecticide will be sprayed here Tuesday afternoon and evening to kill adult mosquitoes, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said.
The mosquito control effort is directed at the Stoneboro Fairgrounds, where sampling has shown unusually large numbers of mosquitoes that potentially can carry West Nile virus.
Backpack and hand-held spray equipment will be used by Mercer County and DEP staff. The pesticide, which will be sprayed onto vegetation and into wooded areas, has no impact on human health and breaks down quickly in the environment, DEP said.
The spraying is scheduled in advance of the Stoneboro Fair, which runs Thursday through Labor Day.
