School-supply giveaway
YOUNGSTOWN -- Third Baptist Church, 1177 Park Hill Drive, will have its fifth annual school-supply giveaway at 3 p.m. Friday.
This year, families will not have to leave their cars to get the supplies. Volunteers will be outside the church to greet families and participants can remain in their cars and drive through to get the supplies.
Supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone. Last year, more than 200 pupils received supplies.
Relay for Life planned
LORDSTOWN -- This village's first Relay for Life event is Friday and Saturday.
The 24-hour event runs from 6 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lordstown High School, 1824 Salt Springs Road. It is the last of several community relays sponsored in the Mahoning Valley by the American Cancer Society that raise thousands of dollars annually for research and treatment of cancer.
