Youngstown advancesto World Series finale
The Youngstown Babe Ruth 14-year-old baseball team will play for the World Series championship this morning at 11 in Quincy, Mass.
Matt Katich and Nick Turco combined on a one-hitter Friday as Youngstown advanced to the championship with a 4-0 victory over Etowah, Alabama.
Katich pitched the first six innings, allowing the one hit, for the victory, and Turco relieved.
Frank Rosile and Mike Hoelzel each had two hits for Youngstown, and Tony Brunetti added two RBIs.
Youngstown scored two runs in the first inning and added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to put Etowah away.
