NATIONAL LEAGUE FRIDAY Padres change order and beat Expos

Sean Burroughs reached base four times in his first leadoff experience.
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- San Diego manager Bruce Bochy tried a new batting order Friday night, and the Padres prospered.
Sean Burroughs reached base four times while batting leadoff for the first time in his career, and Ramon Vazquez nearly hit for the cycle after being dropped to seventh in the order as San Diego rallied past the Montreal Expos 5-3.
Mark Kotsay's two-run homer in the seventh inning gave the Padres the lead as they won for the third time in four games. Montreal lost its third straight after a six-game winning streak.
After the game, Bochy promised to stick with a similar lineup for the time being.
"Burroughs, Kotsay, Vazquez ... A lot of guys had a great day for us," Bochy said. "It was a good come-from-behind win for us."
Reliever Joey Eischen (1-2) walked Burroughs to start the seventh before Kotsay connected for his fifth homer of the season, a drive to right-center for a 4-3 lead.
Vazquez misses cycle
Vazquez went 3-for-4 with a single, double and triple. With a chance for the cycle, he grounded into a force with bases loaded in the seventh before the Padres scored their final run.
"In the seventh inning, I wasn't thinking about the cycle at all," Vazquez said. "I was just trying to get a run in. We needed that insurance run."
The Padres one when, after Hector Almonte loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batter, Gary Bennett drew a two-out walk off Luis Ayala to force in a run.
Montreal manager Frank Robinson held a 15-minute closed-door meeting with his club afterward.
"The thing that kills us is that we score runs early and we seem to get happy," Robinson said.
Eischen said he felt the heat of Robinson's postgame critique.
"I blew the game," Eischen said. "He didn't drop names, but I know I was part of the discussion."
Burroughs went 2-for-3, drew a walk and was hit by a pitch while batting in the leadoff spot.
"It's new, but I didn't do anything that different," Burroughs said.
Vazquez said he, too, tried his same approach even with the change in the order.
"Maybe it is a little more relaxing (to be lower in the order)," Vazquez said. "I just want to do my job. That's to get on base or get the guys over.
Padres starter Brian Lawrence made his first start against the Expos since allowing 10 runs -- nine earned -- in 2 2-3 innings on May 8, the shortest start of his career.
Although he gave up three early runs this time, Lawrence settled down quickly. He retired 11 straight batters before Vladimir Guerrero's one-out triple in the sixth inning.
Lawrence lasted six innings, allowing six hits with three strikeouts and no walks, and three relievers finished.
Linebrink gets mound win
Scott Linebrink (3-2) pitched one inning for the win, Jay Witasick pitched the eighth and Rod Beck closed for his 18th save in 18 opportunities.
The Padres started their comeback with two runs in the sixth off Montreal starter Tomo Ohka. Vazquez tripled to drive in Rondell White, then scored on a single by Gary Bennett.
Guerrero had a run-scoring double and a triple to lead Montreal.
The Expos opened the scoring in the first when Jose Vidro and Guerrero hit back-to-back doubles.
Ohka gave the Expos to a 3-0 lead in the second with a two-run single.
