MAC Offenses duel as Salem loses to Marlington

SALEM -- Salem was close to the goal line as time expired, but the close call wasn't enough as the Quakers fell to Marlington, 28-24, in a game of ball-control offenses.
Senior fullback Sammy Suitca scored twice, including Marlington's final touchdown from a yard out at 2:04.
Salem got the ensuing kickoff at its 33 and marched to Marlington's goal line, where the Quakers were stopped.
Suitca, a 6-0, 192-pounder, finished with 88 yards on 27 carries, while Ryan Garnes added 77 yards and Angelo Runco 76.
The team traded touchdowns with Salem's Brian Schwartz's 26-yard field goal finally snapping a 21-21 tie with 6:15 remaining.
With Marlington trailing 24-21, a nine-play, 66-yard drive -- all on the ground -- culminated in Suitca's go-ahead tally.
Landon Heath, Grant Sevek and Zac Grey scored other touchdowns for the Quakers. Sevek had 83 yards on four carries and Heath gained 52 yards on 11 tries.
Heath completed 14-of-26 passes for 207 yards, while Grey caught six aerials for 123 yards. Grey's TD was a 29-yard pass from Heath. Besides Schwartz's field goal, he booted three PATs.
