WARREN -- A citizens committee is requesting copies of citizen police complaints for the past 20 years.
The organization, known as Parents Against Police Abuse, formed earlier this month, also is asking for the arrest records generated by Officers Greg Hoso, Jeff Ladner, Robert Massucci and Joseph Kistler.
"We want to find out how they handle their arrests and what type of arrests they make," said Ron White, a former city councilman and member of the organization.
"We want to find out if there is a trend on how many times they arrest someone and how many times those being arrested need medical attention."
White said the organization is going to request information on other police officers as well.
"This is just the start," White said.
It's in writing
A written request for the records was given Friday to Capt. Tim Bowers, White said.
"Captain Bowers told me to get back to him next week, and hopefully I will be able to get the records," White said.
Neither Bowers nor Police Chief John Mandopoulos could be reached to comment.
Karin Bryant, another member of the group, and White said the organization's first meeting is scheduled for noon today.
"We have people from other cities who want to join our organization as well, and some of those people may try to come to the meeting," White said. "I don't want to name the other people yet. We will wait to find out if they come."
The organization formed after numerous complaints of police brutality and illegal strip-searches were reported earlier this summer, White said.
