GREENVILLE

GROVE CITY

HERMITAGE
Curriculum: New math program implemented for grades kindergarten through six; pilot programs in social studies in grades kindergarten through six; English as a second language course available for grades kindergarten through 12; algebra preparation course offerings for grades seven and eight; academic tutoring program available in all buildings.
JAMESTOWN
Renovations: The district has started a $7.8 million renovation/expansion of the high school, work will continue through the school year.
LAKEVIEW
Curriculum: Boys and girls golf program added for grades nine to 12.
Renovations: A $14.7 million renovation/expansion of the school building complex is scheduled to be completed in November.
REYNOLDS
Curriculum: Received a federal Reading First grant of $200,000 a year for a minimum of three years for grades kindergarten through three that will use the services of a reading coach and computer programs; will be teaching computer technology at the elementary level.
Renovations: New computer labs in the elementary and high school.
SHARON
Administrators: Patrick Hepinger, new assistant principal for academics in the high school; Sheila Schneider, new principal of West Hill Elementary.
Curriculum: Implementing a $200,000-a-year federal Reading First grant program at Musser Elementary School which could run for six years; rewriting the kindergarten through 12th-grade math curriculum.
Renovations: The district purchased and is remodeling the former Grimm building at East State Street and Forker Boulevard to serve as an alternative education program center for disruptive pupils.
SHARPSVILLE
Curriculum: Rewriting the kindergarten through 12th-grade math curriculum.
WEST MIDDLESEX
Administrators: Larry Ellison, new high school principal; Georgiana Luce, new part-time secondary dean of students.
Curriculum: New kindergarten through 12th-grade science curriculum; all 11th-graders are required to take a chemistry class; all seventh- and eighth-graders are required to take a family and consumer science course; all ninth-graders are required to take a new Office 2000 computer education course.
