HELOISE Guest book can also obtain helpful information

Dear Heloise: After losing a family member, I came up with this hint to help the grieving family know the association of those attending the funeral service.
In the sign-in guest book, take a ruler and pen and draw four columns, heading each with: Name/Relationship or Association, Address, State and ZIP Code.
When the stress of planning the funeral and losing your loved one has passed, you will have the names and addresses of people who attended all in one place. B.L., Maryland
You are kind to take the time to write. In times of grief, we don't always get the information needed. Heloise

UTo keep shoes smelling better, place one in each shoe.

Dear Readers: Here are two hints from Helen Green of Bedford, N.H.:
UMy garage-door opener is attached to the passenger-side sun visor. Under this I attach pick-up tickets for dry cleaning, photos and prescriptions. I never have to search my purse for these!
UWhen I have paint left over, I put it into a well-cleaned and rinsed laundry-detergent jug. It is perfect for use with roller trays, and the measuring cap is great for small amounts needed for touch-ups. To mix, a good shake is all you need.
Dear Heloise: When my friend Claire was packing for a move, she was confronted with several years' worth of old (no longer relevant) financial documents. Because many of the documents contained credit-card and Social Security numbers, she couldn't just throw them away.
Instead, she bought a crosscut paper shredder and destroyed the documents. She then used the resulting confetti to pack fragile items. It worked perfectly. B. Williamson, Bryan, Texas
Dear Heloise: I found a use for the "door hangers" that get left on my front door. If the backside is plain, I will use it to write reminders for myself, like "pick up dry cleaning" or "pick up film and pictures," and hang it on the inside of my door. Mitzi Shirley, via e-mail
Sound off: My husband and I eat out in restaurants frequently, and a number of times I have noticed that restaurant employees clean off the tables with a rag and then use the same rag for cleaning off the chairs or benches. I have also seen them do the opposite -- clean the chairs and then the tables with the same cloth.
I find this very unappetizing. Think about who might have sat in that seat, and then wiping the table with the same cloth. V. Marshall, Ohio
Ask an employee to please reclean the table, or move to another one. Heloise
