WARREN -- Margaret "Peg" E. Edwards, formerly chief executive officer of Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Warren, has been named program director for The Rehabilitation Center at Doctors Hospital in Canton. With more than 25 years of health-care experience, Edwards has a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and a master's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University. She also completed an executive program in health-care administration at The Ohio State University.
HOWLAND -- Heidi Godfrey of Warren has been named director of social services at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. A licensed social worker, Godfrey had been employed at the Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services. She has a bachelor's degree in social work from Youngstown State University and a master's degree, also in social work, from the University of Akron.
BANKING
WARREN -- Second National Bank has appointed Edward A. Arison to assistant vice president, controller, and William T. Burchfield to vice president, merchant portfolio manager.
Arison, a certified public accountant, joined the bank in June. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Kent State University. He will manage the bank's accounting department.
Burchfield, who has more than 24 years of banking experience, also joined Second National in June. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Clarion University.
EDUCATION
BOARDMAN -- Travis Woods, a Boardman native, has been hired as assistant athletic media relations director at the Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. Woods is a 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. He worked with the Charlotte 49ers as a student assistant and served an internship with the U.S. Navy.
FITNESS
YOUNGSTOWN -- The YMCA of Youngstown has added four new staff members for its new D.D. & amp; Velma Davis Family YMCA in Boardman.
Beth Scheller of Columbiana has been named as the associate branch director. She is a 1994 graduate of Malone College in Canton and served for eight years at the Lake County Central Branch YMCA, first as Aquatic Director and most recently as Senior Program Director. Scheller is a YMCA Faculty Trainer for its Lifeguard, Water Fitness and Active Older Adult Water Fitness Aquatic programs and received her YMCA Senior Director status in 1996.
Assuming the post of Davis Family YMCA membership director is Marykaye Bunyoff. She has a degree in marketing management from Youngstown State University and is capital campaign coordinator for the new Y branch. She lives in Poland.
Lawrence Jensen of Austintown, a fitness instructor at the downtown Youngstown YMCA since 1998, has been appointed to the position of branch fitness director. He holds degrees in exercise science and speech communications and has served on the staff of Kent State University Salem Branch as a fitness instructor and organizer/manager of its men's basketball program.
Aquatic Director at the new branch is Maggie Swartzfager, a native of Brandford, Pa. She has 12 years of aquatic experience, most recently at the Tuscarawas County YMCA, where she has been program director since 2000. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education, is a trainer for the YMCA of the USA and is working toward her Senior Program Director status with the YMCA.
The Davis YMCA, at 45 McClurg Road on the St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus, is set to open in early September.
FINANCIAL
BOARDMAN -- Lou Firmin has transferred to the Boardman Edward Jones office on Market Street as senior branch administrator, replacing Beth Barrett, who relocated to the company's Columbiana office. Firmin is a Struthers native and previously worked at an Edward Jones office in Lake Charles, La.
RETAIL
BROOKFIELD -- 84 Lumber Co. has hired Ed Fiscus, a Sharon, Pa., native, as a manager trainee in its Brookfield store. Fiscus graduated from Sharon High School in 1991 and attended Penn State University. He lives in Sharpsville, Pa.
