Vogels celebrate 50th anniversary at family party

XGIRARD -- Mr. and Mrs. E. Frederick Vogel of 450 E. Broadway, who observed their 50th wedding anniversary July 18, were honored on the occasion at a family gathering held July 12 at their home.
Hosts for the event were the couple's children, Dr. Frederick R. Vogel of Lyon, France; Suzanne V. Greene of Cincinnati; and John H. Vogel of Columbus. Four grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Vogel and the former Edna Rees were married July 18, 1953, at First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired in 1982 from Sharon Steel Corp. in Sharon, Pa., after 32 years of service in various supervisory positions.
His wife retired in 1993 from Girard City Schools, where she taught elementary school.
The Vogels are members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
