Police commission hires 3 part-time officers
FARRELL, Pa. -- The Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Commission has hired three part-time officers. The commission, acting on a recommendation from Police Chief Riley Smoot, voted Tuesday to hire Brian Reiter of Sharpsville, 33, and brothers Joshua and Daniel McCloskey of Greenville, 22 and 21 respectively, to fill the posts.
They will be paid $10 an hour; their hiring brings the part-time total to seven.
Reiter already is a part-time officer in Sharpsville and has worked for both Shenango and South Pymatuning Township police departments.
Joshua McCloskey has no police experience but is a graduate of the state's police academy. Daniel McCloskey is a part-time Hempfield Township police officer and a part-time Farrell firefighter.
