KSU professor writes bookon black women's anxiety
"Sooth Your Nerves: The Black Woman's Guide to Understanding and Overcoming Anxiety, Panic, and Fear," by Dr. Angela Neal-Barnett (Fireside, $12)
In "Sooth Your Nerves," Angela Neal-Barnett, a national award-winning psychologist and tenured faculty member at Kent State University, discusses the factors that contribute to black women's anxiety and offers a range of healing methods to help them reclaim their lives. She provides a compassionate blueprint for overcoming anxiety, sharing stories of women she has known professionally and personally. The book includes pharmaceutical options, alternative remedies, cognitive behavior therapy and self-help methods centered on spiritual development.
Neal-Barnett directs the Program for Research on Anxiety Disorders among African-Americans at Kent State. She lives in Tallmadge.
