LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES Tallmadge ousted by Boynton Beach, Fla.
The Ohio team fell behind early and could never recover.
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) -- By the time Richie DeJesus of Boynton Beach, Fla., made his first out Sunday, it was too late for Tallmadge.
DeJesus hit a home run in the second inning and added an RBI single in the third to lead Boynton Beach to a 7-2 victory over Tallmadge in pool play at the Little League World Series.
"It was right down the middle," DeJesus said of the fastball he sent some 230 feet over the center field wall in the second.
Boynton Beach improved to 2-0 and advanced to the U.S. semifinals along with Saugus, Mass., a 2-1 winner over Richland, Wash.
Those two teams play tonight for first place in Pool A. Tallmadge -- the only U.S. team to reach the World Series without a loss -- and Richland were eliminated with their second losses.
"I'm trying to keep the kids positive," Tallmadge manager Randy Keen said. "We're here in fantasy land. We're here in Williamsport. You have to keep things in perspective."
Chandler is now guaranteed a spot in the U.S. semifinals from Pool B; Richmond and Wilmington will play Tuesday to determine the last U.S. semifinal qualifier.

Russia 2, Guam 0
Peter Perez had a perfect game though 5-2/3 innings until Anton Chekalin's single to left field with two outs in the sixth.
After advancing on Alexey Kozin's single, Chekalin scored the game's first run on Kirill Starodubov's RBI single to center field.
Kozin would score later on an infield error. The win was the first ever for Russia in the Little League World Series.
