GIRARD, BOARDMAN Hearings set in case tied to child porn
Bloyer is charged separately in both jurisdictions.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Girard Municipal Court for a 43-year-old Boardman man charged in a child pornography case.
Girard Magistrate Mark Finamore set bond at $50,000 Monday for Jon S. Bloyer of Sigle Lane on five counts of pandering obscene material involving juveniles in sexually explicit positions. The Trumbull County charges stem from photographs' being obtained on a computer at the Girard public library.
Bloyer is facing similar charges in Boardman after police there found seven photographs at his home during a search Thursday. A Monday preliminary hearing in Boardman was reset for 10 a.m. Monday so Bloyer's attorney, George Kalafut, could have time to prepare.
According to police, several items other than the photographs were taken from Bloyer's Sigle Lane home including handcuffs, ropes, chains and tarps.
Searching vehicle
Boardman police Captain Jerre Patterson said police are in the process of searching a red SUV related to the case. He didn't say who owned it. He would not reveal what has been found in the vehicle but said the search could take some time because the vehicle is "just packed with a bunch of stuff."
"We are treating the vehicle as a crime scene and until you can get through the top layer of stuff you don't know what may be underneath," he said. "Until all the material is identified, we don't know if any of it has any evidentiary value. It could be evidence or it could be junk."
Boardman police said, at the time of his arrest, that Bloyer told officers he spent much of his spare time at Boardman schools sporting events. Dave Matz, president of the Boardman Spartans little league football team, has since said Bloyer was a public address announcer for the team but had no contact with the children.
Matz said a meeting will be at 8:30 tonight outdoors behind Center Middle School to discuss Bloyer's involvement with the organization.
