WASHINGTON Taylor helps Rockers hold off Mystics for 72-68 victory



WASHINGTON (AP) -- Penny Taylor scored 16 points and LaToya Thomas added 14 as the Cleveland Rockers withstood a second-half run by the Washington Mystics to win 72-68 Saturday night.
Cleveland led by as many as 14 points in the first half but Washington opened the second half with a 12-0 run to take a 42-40 lead.
The lead changed several times after that until the Mystics (9-22) went up for the final time -- 62-61 with 5:08 to play.
Cleveland (15-14) led 72-68 with 7.6 seconds left. Washington had a chance to cut into the Rockers' advantage but Stacey Dales-Schuman missed a 3-point attempt and Kiesha Brown airballed a jumper.
Washington's Chamique Holdsclaw led all players with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Chasity Melvin scored 13 points for Cleveland.
