KEYSTONE CLIPS Arbor Day Foundation offers free dogwoods



The National Arbor Day Foundation has a gift for anyone who joins this month.
It will give each new member 10 white flowering dogwood trees as part of its Trees for America campaign.
The trees will be shipped with planting instructions between Oct. 15 and Dec. 10 and will be 6 to 12 inches high.
They're guaranteed to grow, or they will be replaced free.
To get the trees, send a $10 membership contribution to Ten Dogwoods, National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, Neb. 68410 by Aug. 31.
Sharon class reunions
The Sharon High School classes of 1936 and 1937 will hold their joint reunion Aug. 30 at the Radisson Hotel in Shenango Township, Mercer County.
The reservation deadline is Wednesday.

Honors for Rep. Wilt
State Rep. Rod Wilt of Greenville, R-17th, has been named Legislator of the Year by the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association, based on his support for law enforcement.
He was nominated for the honor by William H. Romine Jr., Mercer County sheriff.
Wilt has assisted the sheriff's office and other police agencies in obtaining grants for law-enforcement programs.
Record class at SRU
Slippery Rock University is welcoming its largest freshman class in 15 years.
Some 1,800 new students will be moving into SRU's eight residence halls Friday.
That is in addition to the 1,000 upperclassmen returning to the residence halls Aug. 24.
'Mister Rogers' musician
Joe Negri of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" fame spent time in New Castle after performing at a concert at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. The free event was part of the Lawrence County Historical Society's summer concert series. Negri and his wife, Joanie, were guests of Dr. Wayne Burick at Burick's restaurant, Tuscany Square in Neshannock Township.
Negri, also a well-known jazz artist, performed standard jazz tunes along with the trademark music of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" during the concert.
