Horizon PCS files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP) -- Horizon PCS, an affiliate of Sprint Corp.'s wireless division, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Bankruptcy will allow the company to restructure debts and agreements while cooperating with creditors and Sprint, said William A. McKell, chairman and chief executive.
Spokeswoman Mary Elsass says the company based in this town 45 miles south of Columbus will keep operating, and customers won't be affected.
Horizon PCS laid off nearly 300 employees, including 59 from Chillicothe, in late July as part of a restructuring effort.
