Band will pay tribute to Hope at Lawn and Strawberry Social



CORTLAND -- The fourth annual Lawn and Strawberry Social is planned for 6 p.m. Aug 24 on the lawn at the Viets Museum, 224 N. High St.
The public is invited to bring a lawn chair, relax and enjoy a free concert by the Cortland Community Concert Band.
The band will feature a salute to Bob Hope, several marches, patriotic music as well as Broadway show tunes.
The new Trumbull County Bicentennial Bell will be on display. There will be free face painting for children.
Ohio Bicentennial tapestry coverlets will be on sale for $50 each; Ohio Bicentennial garden stones, which feature the lake shore communities of Cortland, Mecca and Bazetta, may be purchased for $20 each; and there will also be a 50-50 drawing.
Refreshments include: hot turkey sandwiches, sloppy joes, chips, haluski (noodles and cabbage), beverages and strawberries and ice cream.
Tables and chairs will be provided for those purchasing food.
All money raised will be used to maintain and improve the museum and its grounds.
