Reunion honors area people for contributions

FARRELL, Pa. -- Southwest Gardens Economic Development Corp. will have its 16th annual Community Reunion Days in the Park this weekend.
The event will be centered in Rosetta Ragster Memorial Park at Stevenson Street and Darr Avenue.
Rosetta Ragster was one of the two founders of Southwest Gardens.
There will be food, music, games and vendors as residents of the area join to celebrate their community.
The reunion also is a time to honor local people who have made positive contributions to that community. This year's honorees are Flossie Holloway, Donald and Sherry Chambers, and Rob Fantino.
Events begin Saturday with a parade from Farrell High School to the park at 10 a.m. Staged acts begin performances in the park at noon, and there will be music all day. A three-point basketball competition, bingo, a fashion show and a talent show also are planned.
Sunday's activities begin with a Gospel fest at 2:30 p.m. The day also will feature a rib burn-off and a fashion show.
