NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE Kouzmanoff's home run ignites Scrappers to win



AUGUSTA, N.J. -- Kevin Kouzmanoff homered in the first inning and three other players had two-hit games, as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers beat the New Jersey Cardinals 5-1 Thursday in a New-York-Penn League game at Skylands Park.
Ryan Mulhern, Mike Conroy and Ceasar Suarez each had two hits for the Scrappers (27-30), who tallied three runs in the fifth inning.
The Cardinals (22-34) scored in the fourth to close to within 2-1.
Roger Lincoln pitched the first four innings but did not get a decision.
Matt Davis (4-3) threw three hitless innings to get the win. Dan Rich yielded just two hits in the final two innings for the Scrappers.
The Scrappers play at Tri-City tonight.
