Jackson agrees to plea
Michigan defensive back Marlin Jackson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault Wednesday in a plea agreement with Washtenaw County (Mich.) prosecutors. The preseason Big Ten defensive player of the year from Sharon, Pa., was accused of striking a man in the right eye with a bottle during a party. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped a charge of felonious assault, which carried a sentence of up to four years in jail, assistant prosecutor Paul Barnett said. Aggravated assault is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Sept. 11.
