YOUNGSTOWN -- Fourteen Youngstown State University faculty members were chosen to participate in the first Summer Institute for Teacher-Scholars this August at YSU. Sponsored by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning at YSU, the four-day institute provided intensive exploration of teaching and learning issues with participants developing projects to carry out in 2003-04. The program also includes yearlong support.
Participants were Javed Alam (civil engineering), Dora Bailey (education), Ray Beiersdorfer (geology), Jan Clymer (physics), Jeff Coldren (psychology), Eleanor Congdon (history), Karen Duda and Suzan Harper (computer science), Jay Gordon (English), Shirley Keller (social work), Jodie Krontiris-Litowotz (biological sciences), Walter Mathews (communication & amp; theater), Virginia Phillips (information systems) and Thomas Smotzer (mathematics).
