Getting there: Niagara-on-the-Lake lies about 20 minutes north of Niagara Falls on the Canadian side.
Things to do: Steamship tours, horse carriage rides, jet-boating, winery tours (on your own or with an organized tour, by bicycle or tram), golf (play the oldest course in North America or other, more challenging public courses in the area), antiquing, shopping, theater.
When to go: Festivals are held year-round, including an ice wine festival in January.
