UAW workers to voteon strike authorization
LORDSTOWN -- Unionized workers at General Motors Lordstown Assembly plant were voting today on whether to give negotiators the right to call a strike in national negotiations. Members of the United Auto Workers Local 1112 were set to vote between 6 a.m. today and 6 a.m. Friday. UAW locals across the country will be scheduling strike votes before their current contract with GM expires Sept. 14.
Passenger numbers riseat Akron-Canton Airport
GREEN, Ohio -- The Akron-Canton Airport reported record-breaking totals for origin and destination passengers in July, due partly to an 85 percent increase in AirTran Airways passengers. The airport served 112,457 passengers in July, topping the previous record of 104,036 in June and 31 percent higher than July, 2002.
