KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mike Mussina pitched eight shutout innings and Jorge Posada went 4-for-5 for New York. A day after the Yankees gave up 11 doubles and fell 12-9 to Kansas City for their third straight loss, the AL East leaders won with outstanding pitching. Mussina (13-6) gave up four hits, striking out five and walking four.
Tigers 7, Rangers 4
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Jeremy Bonderman pitched seven solid innings and Brandon Inge had three RBIs as Detroit spoiled the major league debut of Texas starter Juan Dominguez. Carlos Pena and Craig Monroe hit consecutive homers in the fifth inning, helping Detroit win for the sixth time in 20 games.
Devil Rays 4, Orioles 2
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Rob Bell took a one-hitter into the eighth and Damian Rolls hit a two-run double for Tampa Bay. Carl Crawford and Rocco Baldelli added run-scoring singles for the Devil Rays, who are 15-11 since the All-Star break. Bell (3-2) shut out the Orioles through seven innings. Jesus Colome and Lance Carter -- who worked ninth for his 20th save in 26 opportunities -- completed the three-hitter.
Mariners 3, Blue Jays 1
SEATTLE -- Freddy Garcia snapped a career-worst six-game losing streak, outpitching Roy Halladay and the Toronto Blue Jays. Garcia (10-12) overcame a shaky start, winning for the first time in eight starts since beating Anaheim 6-4 on June 24.
Athletics 5, Red Sox 3
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Barry Zito pitched into the sixth inning for his first win since July 3, and Eric Chavez and Terrence Long homered during Oakland's five-run first. Zito (9-10) ended his five-game losing streak with a strong beginning and a shaky finish.
White Sox 10, Angels 4
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Dan Wright, winless in 12 starts this season, earned a victory in his second appearance out of the bullpen for Chicago. Magglio Ordonez, Sandy Alomar Jr. and Carlos Lee drove in two runs apiece for the White Sox, who moved within a half-game of first-place Kansas City in the AL Central.

Diamondbacks 2, Reds 0
CINCINNATI -- Curt Schilling struck out 11 and Steve Finley homered as Arizona beat the Reds for the 15th straight time. The Diamondbacks opened a seven-game road trip with their third consecutive victory and sixth in seven games. Their 15-game winning streak against the Reds is the longest current string by any major league team against another.
Padres 14, Braves 4
ATLANTA -- San Diego pounded Greg Maddux for 13 hits in five innings and went on to tie a franchise record with 24 hits The NL East-leading Braves matched a season high with their third straight loss. San Diego equaled the team record for hits set on April 19, 1982, vs. San Francisco.
Rockies 6, Expos 3, 11 innings
MONTREAL -- Pinch-hitter Greg Norton came through with a three-run homer in the 11th inning for Colorado. Larry Walker hit a leadoff single in the 11th off Expos closer Rocky Biddle (3-5), who was working his second inning.
Brewers 6, Phillies 3
PHILADELPHIA -- Keith Osik hit a bases-clearing double and Keith Ginter added a two-run double, leading Milwaukee. Wayne Franklin (8-9) allowed three runs and four hits in 62/3 innings to snap a three-game losing streak.
Mets 5, Giants 4
NEW YORK -- Barry Bonds homered twice, giving him 650 in his career, but the Mets overcame his power display. He hit a pair of solo shots, with his drive in the ninth inning moving him within 10 of Willie Mays for third place on the all-time list.

CHICAGO -- Carlos Zambrano held Houston to five hits to win his fifth straight start, getting his first major league shutout for Chicago. Alex Gonzalez, who entered in a 2-for-46 slump, hit a two-run homer in the first off Tim Redding (8-10).
Marlins 5, Dodgers 4, 13 innings
MIAMI -- Ramon Castro hit a two-out home run in the 13th inning, and the Marlins took the lead in the NL wild-card race. Castro, the Marlins' third catcher of the game, hit his third homer on a 2-0 pitch from Paul Shuey (4-4). Chad Fox (1-0), recalled Tuesday from Triple-A Albuquerque, earned the victory.
