I-680 lane restrictions
YOUNGSTOWN -- Various daytime lane restrictions will occur on parts of Interstate 680 today and Thursday as part of ongoing road construction.
Either or both directions just south of U.S. Route 62 (Market Street) may be restricted, officials said.
The construction is part of a $315,000 project to upgrade signalization from state Route 11 to the Ohio Turnpike. It's scheduled for completion by late fall.
Strike notice issued
SOUTHINGTON -- A union representing support staff at Southington schools has issued a notice of its intent to go on strike Aug. 25.
The 17 members of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local 4 have been without a contract since June 2001.
The school board withdrew recently from negotiations and imposed a contract carrying the terms agreed to earlier by teachers.
OAPSE says it objects to the contract's imposition and to changes in the insurance plan.
