NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township trustees agreed Tuesday to issue a new license to Steamers Stonewall Tavern to allow it to stay open until 2:30 a.m. instead of 1 a.m.
They also approved the transfer of the liquor license at Beaver Alley Beverage from Robert and Mary Ellen Fink to Marjorie Susan Schnarrenberger. Trustees will pay architect Doug Sipp of Beaver, Pa., a $500 retainer to design work that is to be done at Woodworth Park.
Trustees accepted the resignation of Carol Patterson, a full-time dispatcher. Jennifer J. King was promoted from part-time to full-time status at a wage to be determined. Robert J. Whited was promoted from part-time to full-time police officer at $10.22 an hour.
Fund-raising event
GIRARD -- A fund-raising event for Mitch and Diann Barns of Poland will be from 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Creekside Golf Dome to help with medical expenses.
Mrs. Barns is on sick leave from work after suffering a stroke as the result of a brain tumor. Her husband is on family medical leave to care for four of their five children at home.
The evening will feature White Noise/Noisy Mama; Michael Bruce, original guitarist for Alice Cooper; Left End's Dave LeMasters; comic Bill Hoyt; and Irish folk singers Rose & amp; Thistle.

Firearms charges
CLEVELAND -- A Warren man and two Youngstown men have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Cleveland.
Charles Phillips, 46, of Oak Street, Warren, is charged with federal firearms violations.
The indictment says he unlawfully possessed a gun after having been convicted of aggravated assault in Trumbull County in January 1981. Phillips also is charged with having an unregistered, sawed-off shotgun.
Charles Pullen, 21, of Selma Street, Youngstown, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition after being convicted of possession of cocaine in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in July 2001.
Dwight Tanksley, 22, of Fairgreen Avenue, Youngstown, faces the same charge as Pullen. He was convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in Augusta, Ga., in April 1994.
Target: DUI, speeding
WEATHERSFIELD -- Additional township police officers will be on the road Friday and Saturday, and from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2, to target drunken drivers and speeders.
Funding was provided by the state, through the Trumbull County DUI Task Force and also through the Ohio Department of Public Safety and Governor's Highway Safety Office.
Disc golf contest
CHAMPION -- The eighth annual Plastic Classic flying disc golf championship will be Saturday at Young's Run Disc Course, a Trumbull County Metro Park near Kent State University Trumbull Campus.
Registration will be at 9 a.m. and costs $10, including lunch and prizes.

School refresher
HUBBARD -- Does your child need a refresher before going back to school?
The Hubbard Public Library has an answer with a collection of JumpStart Educational CD-ROMs for pupils from kindergarten to sixth grade.
During August, each child who spends half an hour using a program will receive a colored paper airplane.
Used-computer auction
NILES -- McKinley Memorial Library will conduct an auction to get rid of excess "as is" computer equipment such as personal computers, monitors and a scanner.
Items will be on display in the auditorium from 9 to 4 p.m. Aug. 22-23. Interested buyers must submit written bids that will be opened Aug. 25.
