Man faces chargesin scams on elderly
YOUNGSTOWN -- Michael McCutcheon, who police say used devious plots to entice elderly residents out of their homes so his accomplice could steal valuables, was arrested at 3 a.m. today at the King's Motel in Coitsville. McCutcheon, 31, of Tam-O-Shanter Drive, Boardman, was booked into the Mahoning County jail pending arraignment today in municipal court on two counts each of receiving stolen property and misuse of a credit card. He also faces burglary charges in Mahoning County Court, Sebring. Police said one of McCutcheon's scams was to tell elderly residents that he'd struck a dog with his car and it ran into their rear yard. While the residents helped look for the dog, his accomplice would enter the house and take whatever was handy, such as a wallet or purse, police said. The accomplice remains at large.
