Columbiana County Park District programs planned for the rest of August at Scenic Vista Park, 11000 Wayne Bridge Road. All programs are free of charge, except for the Civil War Re-enactment, and open to the public.
Dr. Scott Shalaway presents a program titled "Conservation Begins at Home," 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Shalaway is well-known in the tri-state area as a lecturer on nature topics as well as for his radio shows and weekly nature column in The Vindicator.
Civil War Re-enactment: Aug. 23 and 24. Besides a mock Civil War battle, watch a lye soap-making demonstration, a tug-of-war between the North and South, a women's rolling pin toss, and a ladies tea and fashion show. A festive "Ball" wraps up the festivities. Admission: $5. Children under 10, free.
Night Sky Show: Sponsored by Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society at 8 p.m. Aug. 30. Society members will be on hand with telescopes and expertise to guide the public in a study of the night sky.
