PIRATES Sanders, Giles lead Pittsburgh past Rockies, 10-4

Bucs pitcher Jeff D'Amico won for the first time in six starts.
DENVER (AP) -- Reggie Sanders and Brian Giles each hit two-run home runs to help Jeff D'Amico win for the first time in six starts as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Colorado Rockies 10-4 Saturday night.
Sanders hit his 22nd homer in the fourth inning and went 2-for-5, and Giles hit his 14th during the Pirates' five-run sixth.
D'Amico (7-11), who was rocked for eight runs in five innings last Sunday in a 16-4 loss to the Rockies, allowed four runs -- three earned -- and six hits in 62/3 innings.
He had lost his last three decisions since winning July 6 against Houston.
Darren Oliver (10-7) lost for the first time this season at Coors Field in nine starts. Oliver allowed nine runs and 10 hits in 51/3 innings.
Early lead
Colorado took the early lead in the first when Tony Womack tagged up from third on Todd Helton's deep foul to left.
The Rockies added an unearned run in the second after Larry Walker led off with a double to center and advanced to third on Jay Payton's groundout.
He scored when Jason Kendall dropped third baseman Jose Hernandez's throw to the plate on Oliver's ground out.
Pittsburgh went up 4-2 in the fourth. Tike Redman and Kendall hit consecutive doubles to lead off the inning.
One out later, Sanders homered to left. Craig Wilson tripled to center and scored on Hernandez's single off Oliver's glove.
Payton hit his 16th home run of the year, a solo shot to right with one out in the bottom half.
Key inning
The Pirates sent 11 batters to the plate in a five-run sixth, highlighted by Giles' two run homer. Sanders doubled and scored on Hernandez's single to left.
The last two runs scored when Steve Reed walked D'Amico and hit Kendall with the bases loaded to put Pittsburgh ahead 9-3.
Pinch-hitter Carlos Rivera hit his first big league homer in the seventh. Charles Johnson countered with a solo homer for Colorado.
Pirates reliever Julian Tavarez left with one out in the ninth after he fell over the railing and into the Rockies' dugout. Taverez, who was chasing down a pop foul by Johnson, was able to walk off the field on his own.
Notes
Giles homer was his 163rd home run, tying him with Frank Thomas for sixth place on Pittsburgh's career list. Thomas did it from 1951-58.
Following the game, the Pirates recalled right-handed pitcher Nelson Figueroa from Triple-A Nashville. Figueroa will start today with Kip Wells moved back to Monday against St. Louis.
Colorado reliever Nelson Cruz will throw a simulated game Tuesday for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Jason Jennings will start for the Rockies Monday in Montreal.
