State cites Jim Beam afterbourbon spills into creek
WEST POINT, Ky. -- Nearly all of the fish in a creek near a whiskey warehouse have died since fire destroyed the building and spilled its contents last week, and state officials have cited owner Jim Beam.
Lightning set the warehouse on fire on Aug. 4, and more than 800,000 gallons of burning bourbon flowed into a retaining pond and then into the creek. State officials were investigating whether a larger fish kill downstream in the Salt River also is attributable to bourbon in the water.
RealNetworks teams upwith Sprint to offer service
SEATTLE -- RealNetworks and Sprint plan to offer a new service starting today that will let Sprint wireless-data customers subscribe to news, horoscopes, traffic and other information from RealNetworks over their mobile phones.
The service marks the first time RealNetworks is offering a subscription to wireless phone customers as the Seattle-based company aims to spread its audio and video software and services from the desktop computer to the growing market of wireless devices.
The two companies will share the $4.95 a month fee that customers will pay to receive news and information from National Public Radio, CBS Marketwatch, Fox Sports and others, said Mark Donovan, RealNetworks' director of strategy and marketing.
Starting today, RealNetworks began offering free news, movie times and other information to some customers of AT & amp;T Wireless, Cingular and T-Mobile.
