BAZAARS
XShenango Valley Mall, 3303 E. State St., Hermitage, Pa., is seeking nonprofit organizations to participate in its annual fall community bazaar to be held Oct. 9-12 at the mall. Groups must contact the mall management office at (724) 346-4564, complete a registration form and pay a small fee to cover the cost of display tables.
FESTIVALS
X"Touch of Greece" is the theme of the 28th annual Glendi planned from noon to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. Friday will feature seafood dinners including fish plaki (baked fish with Greek vegetables and tomato sauce). Available all days will be chicken and lamb dinners and ethnic delicacies. Food is available for eat-in or takeout. Entertainment during the festival will be presented by the Hellenic Stars, St. John's dancers directed by Alexis Elias and other dance groups. The festival also will include a trash and treasure sale, Greek taverna, Chinese auction and tours of the church. Religious items such as icons, books, compact discs and tapes will be sold. Parking and admission are free.
OPEN HOUSES
XJackson Township Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate its anniversary with an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the station, 229 N. Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson. A pancake and sausage breakfast is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day. The focus of the day is to thank the community for its continued support.
SALES
XBazetta Christian Childcare will hold a rummage sale, flea market and craft show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Bazetta Christian Church, Hoagland-Blackstub and Everett-Hull roads, Bazetta. Exhibitors interested in space for the event should contact Joie Mozena at (330) 637-7312.
TRIPS
XZion Church of God in Christ, Hudson Avenue, Youngstown, will sponsor a shopping trip for those 16 and over to New York on Sept. 13. Cost is $65, and a nonrefundable deposit of $30 is due by Sunday with the balance due by Sept. 5. Boarding will be at 10:30 p.m. that evening with departure at 11.
