Residents of Neshannock ask supervisors' help after flooding
NESHANNOCK -- Many township residents who have flooded basements are not sure where to turn for help.
Residents approached the Neshannock supervisors earlier this week with concerns about flooding and sewer backups in their homes.
The problems began after the July 27 storm. Residents from the Manor Avenue-North Beaver Street area made up the majority.
Disaster plea
Supervisor Chairman Gale Measel advised the residents that the supervisors recently sent a form to the Lawrence County Emergency Management Department trying to declare the township a disaster area.
Measel also has contacted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers asking them for technical support and possible funding.
Supervisor Daniel Vogler said residents of Jameson Place, an assisted-living center on Pa. Route 18, were evacuated after the July 27 storm caused water and sewage backups.
Vogler said it might be at least a month until residents are able to return.
Sewer project
In other business, Graziani Construction Co. of New Castle was the low bidder for the sanitary sewer construction project on Mitchell Road.
Supervisors agreed to award the $102,870 contract to Graziani pending approval from Killem & amp; Associates, the township's sewer engineers.
