MERCER COUNTY Traffic delays likely on I-79
MERCER, Pa. -- Motorists using Interstate 79 in Mercer County are advised there is a chance of severe traffic congestion in the southbound lanes Saturday between Mileposts 113 (Grove City exit) and 118.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said road repair crews doing concrete work will be working very close to the road and there will be a lane restriction in that area. Some delays are possible.
Repairs scheduled for state roads in Mercer County next week are also expected to create some traffic delays.
Route 62
Beginning Monday, U.S. Route 62 in Mercer borough from U.S. Route 19 to Pa. Route 158 (Shenango Street) will be closed for milling and concrete replacement at the Route 62/19 intersection.
That job won't be done until Aug. 22 and detour routes will be posted to get traffic around the area.
PennDOT said there will also be traffic delays on Route 19 between Sheakleyville and Pa. Route 358 all next week for road resurfacing.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane at times.
There will also be lane restrictions and possible traffic delays on both Interstate 79 and Interstate 80 in the county all next week.
PennDOT will be doing concrete slab repairs in both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-80 between Mileposts 4 (Route 18 exit) and 15 (Mercer exit).
On I-79, one lane will be closed on both the northbound and southbound lanes for milling and resurfacing work in two locations. The first is between Mileposts 127 and 132 (Greenville exit) and the second is between Mileposts 113 (Grove City exit) and 118.
