Marks to play at B-W
BOARDMAN -- Matt Marks, a four-year member of the Boardman High boys basketball team, will continue his athletic career at Baldwin-Wallace College.
A two-year letterman for the Spartans, Marks was the leading scorer during the 2002-03 season, averaging 17.3 points per game.
He was also the top free throw shooter sinking 85 percent (56-of-66) of his attempts.
Marks was first team All-SVC and second team All-Northeastern Ohio.
Lou Gehrig Dayat Cafaro Field
NILES -- The ALS Association of Northeast Ohio will sponsor Lou Gehrig Day at Cafaro Field Sunday at 2 p.m. as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers take on the Staten Island Yankees.

Mike Ellis winsgame for Midland
HOUSTON, Texas. -- Mike Ellis, 17, who will be a senior at Warren JFK High, played in the CABA Ultimate 18 and under World Series for the Cincinnati Midland Indians, which finished as runner-up to the Bayside Yankees of New York.
Ellis posted a 1-0 record for Midland with one save and a 1.40 ERA.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The schedule for pick-up of supplies for secretaries of Youngstown Bowling Association leagues has been set for next week.
YBA secretary Joe Haus announced the following dates and locations for secretaries to pick up supply packets for their men's or mixed leagues: (Aug. 11) Amron and A-Plus Family Bowl; (Aug. 12) Bell-Wick and Boardman Lanes; (Aug. 13) Camelot and Kay Lanes; (Aug. 14) Holiday and Bowladrome; (Aug. 15) Wedgewood and West Side.
All pick-ups begin at 7 p.m.
Drivers to signat Sharon Speedway
HARTFORD -- As the clock is winding down on Sharon Speedway's season, the competition is heating up.
Saturday, 3 C's Collision Night marks the 15th week of the 17-race season.
Drivers in Sharon Speedway's four divisions -- Gibson-Governor Insurance Modifieds, Sunburst Environmental Sprints, Coy Brothers Trucking E-mods and City Disposal Services Pure Stocks -- will continue their season.
Prior to the races, drivers in the E-mods division will sign autographs and show off their racing machines in front of the billboard wall from approximately 5 to 6 p.m.
Gates open at 4 p.m., with hot laps beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12-15 and free for children 11 and younger. Coolers less than 14 inches are permitted. Fans can call (330) 772-5481 or visit www.sharonspeedway.com for information and directions.
Family Night
MERCER, Pa. -- Max Weiss Law Firm will present another 2003 Special Family Event on Saturday at Mercer Raceway Park.
Along with a full night of racing, "Meet the Boys" will be a huge kids' night featuring the popular characters of "Hey Arnold!" and "Jimmy Neutron -- Boy Genius" along with kids' bike races and "Meet Your Heroes" driver autographs. Fans will have the opportunity to win one of 100 admission tickets to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Hot laps begin at approximately 6:15 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $10. The Family Pass is $23. Students 6-15 are $5. Children 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $20.
Ex-Browns will beat Deer Creek G.C.
HUBBARD -- Former Cleveland Browns standouts Reggie Langhorne and Herman Fontenot will be special guests at the Irish Bob's Pub Golf Outing set for Aug. 23 at Deer Creek Golf Course.
The event will be for the benefit of the Hospice of the Valley and will be a two-man scramble with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Hiram addswomen's golf
HIRAM -- Women's golf will become Hiram College's 20th varsity sport.
Hiram will be one of two schools in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) to offer women's golf.
The Terriers' team will be coached by Sean McDonnell, currently Hiram's men's basketball coach and a golf instructor in the exercise/sport science department.
