LIMELIGHT Awards, achievements



POLAND -- Clair M. Carlin, a board-certified civil trial attorney with offices in Poland, was a presenter at the annual convention of Trial Lawyers of America in San Francisco last month. Carlin and a Florida attorney discussed trends, practices and recent court decisions in the auto, casualty and disability insurance markets. Carlin is a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Law.
BOARDMAN -- Charles W. McCoy II, on staff at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. office on Windham Court in Boardman, is now qualified to assist clients as an investment adviser representative. He successfully completed the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination to achieve the designation. McCoy joined Metropolitan in 1983.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Robert B. Gardner, a certified public accountant and a financial adviser at Butler, Wick & amp; Co.'s Canfield office, has been elected to the board of trustees of the Industrial Institute for Education. The institute focuses on public economic education by working with local schools to provide career guidance and developing economic literacy programs. Gardner has a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and a master's degree from Youngstown State University. A Youngstown resident, he came to Butler Wick from Commercial Intertech, Youngstown.
WARREN -- Mike Keriotis, owner of Mayfair Laundromats in Warren and Cortland, has been elected the first president of the newly chartered Ohio Coin Laundry Association. A graduate of Kent State University, Keriotis will be a presenter at the Clean Show 2003 Convention in Las Vegas, where he will be discussing multistore ownership. He has been in the coin-laundry business for more than 10 years.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Pauline Hruby of Youngstown was honored with the Ohio Insurance Institute's top speaker award for her volunteer participation in the OII's speakers network program. A retired field representative for Motorists Mutual Insurance Co. and the Erie Insurance Group, Hruby attended Youngstown State University.
LORDSTOWN -- Robert A. Glass, assistant manager at the General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant, has been elected to serve as an at-large trustee for the Industrial Information Institute for Education Inc. Glass was named assistant plant manager at GM in 2001 after coming to Lordstown from Warren, Mich., where he was director of passenger car paint. He joined GM in 1974 and has held a progression of positions with the automaker. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech University with a master's degree in engineering and lives in Poland.
BOARDMAN -- Gary and Sharon Winslow and Jeff Reisman were recognized by the Petland Corp. recently for excellence in first-year operation of a Petland store. The Winslows and Reisman, who opened the franchise store on Market Street in Boardman in July 2002, received the company's Vanguard Award at its annual trade show in Florida.
