Infectious-waste handler to increase treatment capacity
WARREN -- The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will conduct a public information session and hearing at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 to discuss a permit application from Stericycle Inc. of Pine Avenue S.E.
The meeting will be in the auditorium at Warren Western Reserve Middle School.
Stericycle is a commercial facility that treats infectious waste through an autoclave, an instrument that uses steam and pressure.
The permit application is for a modification to replace autoclaves at the facility and increase the treatment capacity.
During the information session, representatives from OEPA will answer questions about the application. During the hearing immediately after, public comment will be recorded.
OEPA will accept written comments about the application through Aug. 28.
Comments may be submitted to Ohio EPA, Division of Solid and Infectious Waste Management, Systems Management Unit, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus 43216-1049.
The application is available for review at the agency's northeast district office, 2110 E. Aurora Road, Twinsburg, by first calling (330) 963-1200.
