NEW YORK -- Crystal Robinson scored 18 points and New York held San Antonio to one point over the final 5:29 in a victory over the Stars. Elena Baranova started in place of Tari Phillips and had 11 points and nine rebounds for New York (11-13). Phillips, who didn't start after breaking an unspecified team rule, had 12 points and 12 rebounds, while reserve Linda Frohlich had a career-high 12 points. Reserve Sylvia Crawley scored 13 points to lead the Stars (9-18), who are 3-2 since coach Shell Dailey took over for Candi Harvey, who was fired July 26.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Swin Cash scored 17 of her 20 points in the first half to lead Detroit to its fifth straight win. Center Ruth Riley and Kedra Holland-Corn each added 13 points and rookie forward Cheryl Ford grabbed 12 rebounds for Detroit (19-6). The Shock led by as many as 21 points and were up 47-28 at halftime. Katie Douglas led the Sun (14-13) with 14 points and six rebounds.
Comets 74, Monarchs 47
HOUSTON -- Tina Thompson had 18 points and Janeth Arcain added 16 for Houston, which won its ninth straight at home and 10th of 12 overall. Edna Campbell and Demya Walker each had nine points for the Monarchs (14-13). Yolanda Griffith, Sacramento's leading scorer, was held to seven points on 2-for-6 shooting. Houston opened the second half with a 10-4 run to go up 51-33 and went on to lead by as many as 29 points.
